January 8 - 14, 2012 is Folic Acid Awareness Week
Go Folic! joins Everywoman California and the National Council on Folic Acid to encourage women to get between 400 - 800 mcg of folic acid in their diet everyday to support beauty, general health, and to prevent serious birth defects of the brain and spine should they get pregnant (neural tube defects). Learn why it's so important, whether or not you're thinking of getting pregnant. Interested in the science behind the facts? Return to school to learn more. In San Francisco, women between the ages of 14-54 can get a FREE year's supply of multi-vitamins with folic acid! To learn about which foods have high amounts of folate, click here. In California, Raley's and SaveMart stores are working with the State of California to hold special promotions on folic acid during January 8-14. |
